New necklaces!

I ordered quite a lot of stuff from the Estonian site Helmehaldjas, I'm so excited! We'll see when I'll receive my package... Of course I'll show pictures then!

Yesterday I received two necklaces that I had bought from a lady on Facebook. A black rose cameo and a Dia de los Muertos -style necklace.

Roses are probably my favorite flowers so I had to buy that one, and the skull reminds me of Grim Fandango, one of the greatest adventure games ever made. So I absolutely had to have it! I loathe the word "epic", but if I had to name one epic game, it would be this. Like the cover says.

Something new...

Sooo... It must be pretty apparent that I don't have much to say! Must be the silent Finn gene or something... But I have been doing new things, I just couldn't update whenever I wanted, so blogging sort of got pushed to the back.

Not too long ago I discovered polymer clay, and I've been trying to do things with it. Kinda hard, don't know if I should blame the brand I'm using, or do I just suck :D Right now I'm making a jewelry set, with a matching ring, a necklace and a pair earrings. The only thing I haven't done yet is the earrings, but I'll post pictures of those as well when ready.

The ring was an accident; I just made roses of different color, and later decided to glue them together. First I made a polymer clay ring base, though. After gluing everything, I decided to paint it black, to match my style better. And so I painted it with black acrylic, and then painted a coat of glossy varnish. I've worn it twice, and it's lovely :)

Too bad one of the leaves fell off, but you can't really see it, so I guess I won't fix it :B

The necklace is pretty elegant. In my opinion at least. I chose to put a decorative toggle clasp to it. The roses are made from black polymer clay, so I didn't need to paint them. I used the same glossy varnish, though. The design isn't exactly what I had in mind, but it's pretty close. I would've wanted smaller roses, but the black clay kept sticking to my fingers so it was rather difficult to use... But I'm still pleased with the result. I put a smaller rose and a couple of petals under the clump of roses so that they seem to be falling from it. Maybe I can try again later when I'm better at this.

The earrings are going to be similar to the necklace, with a clump of roses and some falling, attached to a chain.

I have plenty of ideas for more jewelry, so I'll be posting more of those :)
